Well, it’s Friday. The weekend’s here. Time to relax, right? Not in our universe. At least Tim and I both like a good frolic in the gardens! So here’s the long and mighty list for the weekend. I’m well aware of the fact that we won’t get EVERYTHING done BUT… to quote Bill Shankly (and I’m not often given to quoting British football managers but…) "Aim for the sky and you’ll reach the ceiling. Aim for the ceiling and you’ll stay on the floor." So, here’s to getting off the floor!
[1] Rototill the new pumpkin patch. I’m thinking 10′ x 20′ ought to do. Tim’s thinking, "I really liked living alone!"
[2] Build 2 flower boxes for our garage windows. Tim assures me this should just take a couple of hours to build. Hey, I’ll do the painting… that’s a help, right?
[3] Build a mailbox for the Dragonfly Garden. No, I’m not delusional enough to think the tomatoes will be receiving mail, BUT a couple of years ago I saw this idea to put a mailbox in your garden to keep a pair of gloves and a trowel for an unexpected weeding session. I’m also thinking of some clippers, a pad of paper, a pencil… ah, another place to clutter. I’m also thinking I’d like a 2nd mailbox in my shade garden, and another for the kiddos in the Fairy Forest… but that’s just getting ridiculous, right?!!
[4] Plant my asparagus and rhubarb. That’s an easy peasy one I can do myself!
[5] And, probably cut the grass.
[6] Oh, yeah. We have a double barrel compost bin, which I’ll have Tim write about one day. One side is ready to be empty. Shades of excitement!
[7] I almost forgot… I want a whimsical piece of art for on our house, next to our front door. I need to get a piece of plywood, draw the design on it, and have Tim cut it out. As stated above, I can at least do the painting.
So, a long and mighty list. I know when Tim gets home, the engineer in him will say, "Prioritize, woman. What do you really want me to accomplish?" To which I’ll say, "All of it." And he’ll say, "Okay, let’s assume for a minute that I CAN’T get it all done, what would you be the most disappointed about if it wasn’t done?" And I’ll say, "All of it." And then he’ll give one of his heavy sighs, and inexplicitly give me one of his grins while shaking his head. And I’ll yet again wonder what I ever did to deserve him!
Tell me you’re making up Tim, because I’ll be completely devastated to think there actually are men out there that are that obliging! Trying to get my husband to move the hose is about as helpful as he gets in the garden! Love all your plans. Can’t wait the see the finished product. BTW your website is just lovely, like a stroll in a garden!
I had high hopes for gardening this weekend, but I am definitely a fair weather gardener and it was still too chilly for me. The sun is shining today so perhaps the family can finally attack the garden. Such lovely projects you have planned. Good luck on the list. Or should I be telling your DH good luck!
